Ver los contenidos de un archivo de almacenamiento
Extraer el contenido de un archivo a un directorio de su elección.

Puede manejar muchos formatos, incluyendo tar, gzip, bzip2, zip, rar y 7z.

Crear un archivo

Files can be added to form the archive using the Archive menu
Alternatively files can be dragged from a Konqueror or Dolphin window into the main Ark window
Also on the Archive menu is Add Folder which can pull a whole directory into the archive
Files can be added to a saved archive at any time.

Extrayendo ficheros

Este es el uso que la mayoría de las personas encontrarán primero.

Con un único fichero seleccionado, se le preguntara si quiere extraer ese fichero o todos los ficheros
El archivo permanece completo y el fichero que usted seleccionó se ubicará en el directorio de su preferencia

La forma en la que la extracción trabaja ha cambiado en versiones recientes, así que puede sentirse extraño para alguien que esté actualmente trabajando con KD3. hay dos formas en las que puede controlar la extracción.

Cuando visualice archivos en Ark, utilice el botón Extraer en la barra de herramientas o presione Ctrl-E. Esto le dará un árbol de navegación donde puede seleccionar su destino.
Cuando visualice archivos en Dolphin, hacer click derecho en ellos le proporcionará tres opciones:
- Extraer aquí, Autodetectar subdirectorio
- Extraer a...
- Extraer aquí.

La segunda opción funciona igual que presionar Ctrl-E estando en Ark.
La tercera opción hace exactamente lo que dice - si ningún directorio dentro del archivo es definido, todos los ficheros extraidos terminarán en el directorio actual. Si el archivo contiene un directorio, entonces un directorio será creado dentro de el directorio actual, y todos los ficheros serán extraidos en dicho directorio.
La primera opción es similar a la tercera, pero cuando ningún directorio es definido dentro del fichero, Ark creará uno, y todos los archivos serán extraidos dentro de ese directorio. Si, por ejemplo, su archivo se llama Patrones.zip y contiene todos los diseños, terminará entonces con una estructura parecida a ~/Patrones/diseño1 etc.

Trabajando con archivos

Very often an archive will contain a README or some other instruction file. It is often useful to be able to preview that file before starting work with the archive. Double click any file in archive will open preview.
It may be that one file in an archive becomes irrelevant. The file can be deleted within the archive.
It is also possible to Open with any suitable application and edit the file (if the archive is not read-only).
