Kdenlive est un système de montage non-linéaire rempli de fonctionnalités :
- prend en charge une large gamme de webcams, appareils photo et caméscopes, aussi bien vieux que récents
- le format multi-pistes permet de mixer la vidéo et le son
- sauvegarde automatique et annulation possibles
- les fichiers audio multi-pistes peuvent être coupés en restant étroitement synchronisés avec la vidéo
- large gamme d'effets et de transitions disponibles
- large gamme de codecs supportés en entrée et en sortie : DV (PAL/NTSC), MPEG2 (PAL/NTSC/HDV), Flash FLV, WMV, AVCHD (HDV), H.264, H.265, WebM (VP8, VP9), lossless ProRes, MP3, AC3, OGG Vorbis, FLAC et plus encore
